Nguyen (PI) is an internationally recognised researcher in the areas of network modelling, measurement and security. He has published more than 20 papers on the topic of network security, AI and game theory over the last 5 years. He also has hands-on network security experience by working closely with the University of Adelaide network of over 30,000 users (students and staff), spanning over five campuses. He built and operated the Adelaide node of the national Australian Research Council (ARC) funded Software Defined Networking (SDN) Testbed as a chief investigator. His current research is funded by industry (Cisco, 0.1 FTE commitment) and 3 multi-year research projects with Defence (0.1 FTE commitment for each project). Nguyen has a good track record of HDR student supervision, having completed 6 PhDs and Honours students. He is leading a growing research team in network security with 2 ECRs and 4 PhD students. Nguyen has an excellent track record of engagement with Australian Defence - having been involved in 6 successful projects in modelling and simulation of Defence systems over the last four years. He is currently the theme leader for the Defence, Cyber and Space research theme in the Faculty for Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences.
